Cookie Policy

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small pieces of information stored or read on a device while the Service is used. Local storage, pixels, session identifiers and external-embed technologies may perform a similar function. This Policy refers to them collectively as “cookies”.

2. Necessary and optional cookies

Necessary cookies enable transmission, security or a feature expressly requested by the user, such as a WordPress session, login, digital checkout, Support, protected downloads and storage of the privacy choice. They are not used for advertising and are used without consent only where the law permits.

Functional cookies remember optional preferences such as language, appearance or playback settings. Analytics cookies measure traffic, errors and performance. Marketing cookies and external media may profile, measure campaigns or send data to an embedded platform. These categories are optional and require consent where applicable law requires it.

3. Technologies used by PirateAC

  • WordPress / PirateAC: session, login, form protection, security and administrative cookies;
  • LiteSpeed Cache: page-delivery and cache optimisation data needed to operate the Service;
  • Akismet: comment and spam-protection data when a comment is submitted;
  • Google reCAPTCHA through CAPTCHA 4WP: anti-abuse scripts and an external frame may load on protected forms or pages and can send technical device and request data to Google;
  • YouTube: a page containing an embedded video may load a YouTube frame and send the viewed page, IP address, device data and interactions to Google/YouTube;
  • Patreon and protected downloads: Patreon may use its own cookies after the user follows a Patreon link or starts account linking; PirateAC may use session data to verify access to a protected file;
  • payments and analytics: no dedicated payment, analytics or marketing plugin was active in the PirateAC WordPress site during the review on 22 July 2026. This Policy will be updated before such tools are intentionally enabled.

Cookie names and lifetimes can change after WordPress, security or external-provider updates. Session cookies normally expire with the session; persistent cookies remain for the period set by the relevant feature or provider.

PirateAC does not treat silence, scrolling or continued browsing as consent. Where a technology requires consent, it should not be intentionally enabled until an appropriate consent choice is available. At the review date, the Service does not provide a dedicated cookie-preference panel; users can control or delete cookies in their browser. Direct YouTube embeds and Google reCAPTCHA may nevertheless contact their providers when a relevant page loads.

Cookies can be removed or blocked in the browser. Users may also prevent third-party content through browser privacy settings or extensions. Blocking all cookies may prevent login, Support, protected downloads or preference storage. If PirateAC introduces a consent panel, it will provide an equally accessible method for changing or withdrawing the choice.

6. YouTube and other external services

Loading an embedded video, reCAPTCHA or other external material may disclose the IP address, viewed page, device data and interaction to the provider. The provider may link this information to the user's account.

Patreon and a payment provider may use their own cookies when the user visits their services. Those cookies and policies are controlled by the providers rather than PirateAC.

7. Personal data, contact and changes

Where a cookie identifier can be linked to a person or device, the Privacy Policy also applies.
